10 things I learnt in the last 9 days…

Over the last 9 days I have been on a small tour of England with my band. Despite our best attempts to stop it turning into a homage to Spinal Tap it definitely took some turns for the worse. Anyway, aside from cars blowing up, being stopped by the highway patrol for trying to poop in the bushes and being threatened on public transport, here are 9 things that I learnt:

1 – A tour involves a lot less leisure time than all those montage music videos would have you believe.

2 – Radio is just a load of people talking a load of rubbish about a load of crappy music

3 – You can buy tapes for 99p now to stop the audio diarrhea coming from the radio

4 – The North is not as cheap as everyone says it is unless you go to a pub with at least a 90% chance of being stabbed

5 – Danish people are very nice

6 – The character in Anchorman is not called Ron Jeremy!

7 – It is rare to find a promoter who gives a shit about the bands they are putting on (luckily we found a few good’uns)

8 – They have Slayer – ‘South of Heaven’ on karaoke machines in Leeds

9 – You stop being able to smell yourself after around 5 days of wearing the same clothes with no shower.

10 – Pooing on the hard shoulder of a motorway is illegal!

It is possibly the most tiring thing I have ever done. I have had around 26 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours and still feel sleepy but was well worth it. We played with some great bands, my favourite being Mimas, a band on tour from Denmark. We spent a night drinking playing Wii boxing with them and then a game of football the next morning (where lead singer Snævar decided to strip to his rather fashionable pants, leading to some questionable brown stains afterwards).
